01Is SearchHandled a replacement for Ahrefs?
Not for link research, which is what most Ahrefs subscriptions are for. Ahrefs answers questions about who links to whom and what a market looks like; SearchHandled does the writing and publishing that follows a decision. The clearest split is whether you have somebody to act on a diagnosis. If you do, Ahrefs is excellent at producing one. If you do not, a diagnosis is not the bottleneck.
02Ahrefs renders JavaScript and SearchHandled does not. Does that matter?
It matters on sites whose text is assembled in the browser, which is common on modern frameworks. Ahrefs Site Audit will read those pages; SearchHandled's crawler reads the HTML as served and reports that it could not read the text, rather than reporting the page as empty. That distinction is deliberate (an unreadable page and an empty page call for opposite actions) but it is a real limitation, and on a heavily client-rendered site a rendering crawler will see more.
03Which is better value for a small business?
Ahrefs is better value for an in-house practitioner who will use its index weekly; SearchHandled is better value when the work needs doing for you. Ahrefs Lite at $129/mo plus a freelancer at typical rates costs more than SearchHandled Starter at $79/mo per site and still needs somebody to manage the freelancer. Neither is good value for a subscription nobody opens.
