Bing Webmaster Tools integration
We read Bing Webmaster Tools, and label what it told us.
We read Bing performance data and submit URLs to the index that ChatGPT search reads from.
How it works
Bing Webmaster Tools connects with an API key generated under Settings and then API access in your Bing account. One key per user covers all your verified sites. Through it we read Bing search performance data and submit newly published URLs, and if your site is not verified in Bing yet, Bing offers a one-click import of sites straight from Search Console, which we walk you through.
Bing matters more than its search share suggests, because its index feeds ChatGPT search. In the loop, this connection extends the measure step to a second engine and the publish step to a second index: performance data joins the Growth Map alongside Google's, and URL submission tells Bing about new pages promptly instead of waiting for a crawl.
Best forSites that want visibility in Bing and the AI search surfaces its index feeds, with almost no extra setup work.
Setup, step by step
- Verify your site in Bing Webmaster Tools, using the one-click import from Search Console if your site is verified there.
- Generate an API key under Settings and then API access in Bing Webmaster Tools.
- Paste the key into SearchHandled's Bing connector.
- Confirm the verified sites the key can see and select yours.
- Review the first performance pull, which adds Bing data alongside Google's in your dashboard.
Best practices
Use the Search Console import
Bing's one-click import verifies your sites using your existing Search Console verification, which turns setup from a DNS task into a button. Do that before generating the API key.
Treat the key like a credential
One API key covers every site verified under your user, so it is broader than a per-site token. Store it only in the connector and regenerate it in Bing if you ever suspect exposure.
Let submissions ride the publish event
We submit URLs when pieces publish or update, which is the moment submission is worth something. There is no benefit to resubmitting unchanged pages, and quotas argue against it.
Read Bing data as a second opinion
Bing's query mix differs from Google's, and pages sometimes win on one engine before the other. Divergence between the two is information about the query space, not an error in either dataset.
Use it in the full SEO workflow
The connector is the last mile, not the strategy. Read the Bing Webmaster Tools SEO automation workflow for the evidence gates, draft state, review rules, publish checks, and measurement loop that surround this integration.
Known issues
What practitioners actually report, from official docs, issue trackers, and community forums.
Lower default API quotas than Google
Bing's default quotas for data pulls and URL submission are much lower than Google's equivalents, so aggressive polling or bulk submission hits limits quickly.
How we handle itWe size our pulls and submissions to Bing's defaults, batching data refreshes and submitting URLs on publish events only, so the connection stays comfortably inside quota.

One key spans all your verified sites
The API key is per user, not per site, so it grants access to every site verified under that account, which can be broader than intended.
How we handle itWe only read and submit for the sites you select in the connector, and we recommend generating the key from an account whose verified-site list you are comfortable connecting.

Questions teams ask
- Why bother with Bing at all?
Because its index feeds ChatGPT search as well as Bing itself. Content indexed well in Bing is content the AI search surfaces can find, which is a growing share of how people discover answers.
- Do I have to verify my site separately in Bing?
Yes, but it is usually one click. Bing Webmaster Tools can import your verified sites directly from Search Console, so if you have connected Google, Bing verification takes moments.
- Does URL submission here replace IndexNow?
They overlap for Bing but serve different jobs. IndexNow pushes to Bing, Yandex, and partners the instant we publish, while this connection also reads Bing performance data. Connecting both is the recommended setup.
